Collection of Mr. Samuel Garcia of Fort Worth, Texas. The Personal Papers series contains Samuel Garcia's materials and documents relating to his involvement with various organizations, businesses, and publications. Types of documents included in the series are correspondence; convention materials; newsletters; meeting notices and minutes; photographs; pamphlets; booklets; reports; publications; scholarship fundraiser materials; and award nominee lists. The organizations series contains reports; correspondence; charters and by-laws; membership lists; and systematic planning of activities documentation. Included in the subject files are manuscript materials regarding various issues in Fort Worth and Tarrant County; proceedings and events; and pre-published articles. Comprising the miscellaneous files are two boxes of file folders from various organizations and subject files with manuscript materials too undersized to warrant an entire document box. The journals cover issues relating to the local, state, and national Hispanic community. The Newspaper series contains complete newspapers and feature articles from newspapers in the Fort Worth and Dallas area of north central Texas. Found in the series are The Community News and Events, the Hispanic newspaper published by Mr. Garcia. The clippings series contains newspaper clippings documenting events and activities pertaining to local, state, national and international Hispanic issues. Contained in the series are clippings relating to the City of Fort Worth; crime; discrimination; education; the Hispanic community; immigration; Latin America; military; politics; social issues; sports; the United States; and world affairs. In the box housing world affairs are clippings from the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks. Memorabilia in the Garcia collection includes posters, buttons, pins, ribbons, awards, and plaques. In addition is a 3.5" computer diskette with Hispanic Debutante Association highlights; 2006 History Workshop computer discs; and International Good Neighbor Council award plaques. Finally, contained in the oversize materials series is the Dallas Morning News Special: "Nov. 22 Twenty Years Later"; a booklet; and portraitures.
